Whistler

Whistler Resort is nestled between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains which are part of the Coastal Mountain range of British Columbia, Canada. Whistler is located 120 km / 75 miles north of Vancouver, BC and 354 km / 218 miles north of Seattle, WA.

Whistler/Blackcomb mountains welcome you to the largest lift-serviced high-alpine terrain in North America. Here, in the Coast Mountains, everything is more intense --the bite of wind-driven powder; the scent of pine on a spring afternoon; an alpine sun that feels close enough to touch. Whistler's Magic is that it thrives on contradictions. For every stormy day, there's a powder day that blows your mind and for every cloudy day there's a sunny day that makes you fall in love with the mountains all over again.

Whistler Resort has all services including 115 hotels, condos, bed & breakfasts, offering more than 5,202 rooms; 93 restaurants, bars and lounges; 207 retail shops; banking/foreign exchange and Interac banking machines; church services, medical and dental clinics; physiotherapy and massage therapy; office services; public library; museum; movie theatre and video rentals; health and fitness centres; swimming pool; ice rink; indoor tennis courts; spa facilities and beauty salons.

Whistler Resort-internationally renowned, year-round resort offering some of the best skiing in the world, as well as excellent shopping, dining, golf, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and water sports, is just 125 km (78 miles) north of Vancouver on the Sea-To-Sky Highway (Highway 99).

Canada's first resort municipality has been ranked the #1 ski resort in North America. It has also become "the" vacation destination for Japanese and Americans thanks in part to two mountains with the continent's longest vertical and an impressive, rapidly growing pedestrian-only village with a funky to chic range of restaurants, shops and accommodation.

In addition to winter sports, the summer has lots to offer the outdoor enthusiast-4 golf courses in the area and more planned, great hiking, tennis, mountain biking, heli-fishing, horseback riding, rafting, canoeing, paragliding, glacier skiing and just plain hanging out in the village. A number of blue-grass, jazz, country and classical festivals are staged every year. A copy of Paul Adams' book "Whistler and Region Outdoors" will give you a history of music in the area. A summer event not to be missed is the "Music on the Mountain" series featuring the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra playing al fresco, one mile up. Other summer delights: guided stargazing and moonrises from Blackcomb's peak every Saturday. Art-filled lobby and Mallard bar of Chateau Whistler, home to the best brunch in town ("premier address at Whistler" according to Robin Leach's Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous).

Getting There
Getting to Whistler is half the fun. The trip from Vancouver by car, bus, train, or boat/bus/train combination, samples some of British Columbia's most breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery. By Car
Follow Georgia Street heading west (Hwy 99) through Stanley Park (the Causeway) across the Lions Gate Bridge.
